CIC Proud to be a Part of 2024 WSSCA School Safety Conference

From onsite playground safety training to mitigating school violence and threats, Community Insurance Corporation (CIC) works closely alongside our member schools to ensure safety and security is a priority in our schools and for our children.

CIC was proud to again be the Conference Sponsor for the Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association (WSSCA) Annual Conference, held March 7-8, 2024 along with the Wisconsin Juvenile Officers Association (WJOA). In addition, CIC sponsored and presented the 2024 WSSCA School Safety Coordinator of the Year (COY) award.

The event, held at Glacier Canyon Lodge and Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells, had record attendance of over 300 attendees with 150 business partners.

“To be alongside our school resource officers (SROs) and school representatives was a great opportunity for networking and discussing what the latest areas for opportunities are in our schools,” said WSSCA Advisor and CIC Assistant Vice President Education & Risk Services Jodi Traas. “We are incredibly proud to sponsor this event annually and be an integral part in the recognition of the efforts of our members.”

In addition to Traas, CIC Risk Management Consultant Jessica Schroeder and Account Manager Katrina Vogt were present during the vendor portion of the event.

Each year, CIC sponsors the WSSCA School Safety Coordinator of the Year Award. This year the award again went to a very deserving individual, Chad Whalley with the Beaver Dam Unified School District.

“Chad has been a tremendous resource not only currently to the Beaver Dam Unified School District, but also to Sun Prairie School District and the entire state with a strong dedication to school safety and security,” said Traas. “We were thrilled to present him with the 2024 COY Award and are especially grateful for his creation and implementation of the Student Safety Ambassador program in each district.
