2023 A.L.E.R.T. Law Enforcement Grants

The Wisconsin County Mutual Insurance Corporation (WCMIC) has established the 2023 Advanced Law Enforcement Risk Training (ALERT) Law Enforcement Grants program to support our member law enforcement agencies’ risk management efforts.

A total of $30,000 of grant monies is available in the program. The applications period for the 2023 grants closed on Friday, October 13, 2023. Winners will be notified in November.

Background Information on 2023 Grants

Eligibility

To be eligible for the 2023 Law Enforcement Grants, grantees must:

  • Hold an active WCMIC General Liability insurance policy at the time of entry;
  • Meet the definition of a “law enforcement agency” as outlined in Wis. Stat. 165;
  • Complete and submit the 2023 A.L.E.R.T. Law Enforcement Grants Application.


Grant Applicability
Law enforcement agencies were welcome to apply for grant monies towards:

  • Training
  • Equipment/Technology/PPE (NO firearms or non/less-lethal alternatives [i.e., Tasers])
  • Community awareness campaigns
  • Mental health and wellness
  • Other innovative ideas/programs


Grant Application
All prospective grantees must have completed the “2023 ALERT Law Enforcement Grants Application” and have submitted it by October 13, 2023. It was suggested that prospective grantees provide supplemental information as attachments to the application that will benefit the reviewers’ understanding of your request. Completed applications must be signed by the person completing the form AND the Sheriff or Commanding Officer.

An insured agency may only submit one application.

Grant Awards
Following a thorough review, grants will be awarded by the WCMIC and CIC’s Loss Prevention/Workers’ Compensation Advisory Committee. WCMIC cannot guarantee the award of the full amount you request. Grant winners will be notified following the committee’s November meeting.
